Temperature Anamolies

AirDat is working the issue related to occasional anamolous temperatures. AirDat is taking several actions to address the issue:

1. The initial TAMDAR firmware did not flag temperature data for a sufficient cooldown interval following probe de-icing. This is responsible for some of the temperature anamolies observed, and is being corrected with a firmware upgrade.

2. The RTD temperature sensors that TAMDAR uses are a proven and robust technology, but apparently in the manufacturing process there were a few quality contol issues related to solder joints and application of conformal coating. These manufacturing process issues have been corrected, and the suspect temperature sensing boards are being replaced. This should eliminate most of the remaining temperature anomalies being noticed.

3. AirDat performs temperature range checks in our in-house QA. The range checks detect major deviations, but not smaller deviations.

4. AirDat has implemented a statistical QA process for our in-house forecasting system. This statistical QA process detects and eliminates the smaller temperature deviations. We can work toward implementing this statistical system to flag suspect temperatures in distributed data.

These combined action should, when fully implemented, eliminate temperature anamolies.

Thank you for the continued feedback on TAMDAR performance. The input is great help as we improve and refine the TAMDAR product.

Sincerely,

Mark Anderson
President, AirDat
