TAMDAR data now restricted

As a result of AirDat, LLC's recent contract with the National Weather Service, and AirDat's agreements with GSD, there are now some additional restrictions on TAMDAR data. On GSD's non-java AMDAR display (http://amdar.noaa.gov/oper/), TAMDAR data are no longer available. On GSD's java AMDAR display (http://amdar.noaa.gov/java/), TAMDAR data are restricted as follows: * non-U.S. Government users will see TAMDAR as 'missing data' * U.S. Government users will see TAMDAR data from the Mesaba fleet only. Data from other TAMDAR fleets will be coded as 'missing'. * GSD will see data from all TAMDAR fleets to support our TAMDAR evaluation project. Missing or 'bad' data are shown in gold color on the display. If you don't want to see this data at all, use the 'select' window and choose 'Show good wind and temp. only'. These restrictions also apply to GSD's soundings page (http://rucsoundings.noaa.gov/). Similar restrictions apply for the RUC-AMDAR statistics pages (http://amdar.noaa.gov/ruc_acars). Shortly, TAMDAR data distribution through GSD's MADIS program will be similarly restricted; information will be sent to MADIS users separately. Since AirDat is no longer sharing TAMDAR data with other AMDAR data providers, they no longer have access to the GSD AMDAR display. -Bill
