Observed winds in thunderstorm

I came across an interesting but not surprising wind observation from a TAMDAR aircraft in proximity to a thunderstorm. At 1945Z on 9 Aug 07 in the Dayton, OH area, a northbound TAMDAR aircraft saw an increase from 40 to 87 knots in 3 minutes around 19K. The wind continued at 83 knots 3 minutes later and then back to 57 knots after that. An hour later, there was severe turbulence reported near CMH at 22K. Lyle Alexander
