Potential End of TAMDAR Data

This morning, GSD received the following message from AirDat: Bill, Good morning. As you may know, AirDat has been working with various government agencies over the past year to implement some form of contracting mechanism for the purchase and use of our TAMDAR data. To date, these efforts have been unsuccessful. The cost of implementing and maintaining this type of system is significant, and continues to increase as we expand our fleet of participating aircraft. Given the lack of financial participation by any agency, we have decided to discontinue the provision of free TAMDAR data as of November 15. We will continue to work toward a successful resolution and hope one can be reached soon so that we can continue to supply an uninterupted stream of high quality TAMDAR data. We realize there may be studies underway within the research community that could be adversely affected by this decision, and are willing to work on a case-by-case basis to help support the completion of these projects.
