Great Lakes Fleet Experiment

There have been two short delays in the installation of TAMDAR units this month. The first was the result of defective heading units that effected the wind reports. The manufacturer has since corrected the problem. The next problem was with the satellite antennae not being adequetly weatherproofed. This has also been corrected, and installations are expected to resume next week. This will likely result in the start of the Great Lakes Fleet Experiment being delayed until December 1st. The later start date does have an advantage, as it will allow the GLFE to extend at least at least until May 31st. This will permit TAMDAR to be used and evaluated during the convective season.
