helpful with CAP today

The TAMDAR soundings in and around the upper Great Lakes have been extremely useful in monitoring the CAP today. The evolution of the TAMDAR soundings through the day (particularly at KSAW) have clearly shown the persistence of the CAP in place around 800 mb. This has helped us to anticipate the lack of surface based convection today, with only some non-severe elevated cells thus far. The TAMDAR soundings continue to show little potential for convection rooted in the boundary layer unless temperatures warm to above 90F and/or significant forcing (not anticipated) develops.
