Four aircraft now flying

Four Mesaba aircraft are now flying with TAMDAR sensors and are reporting data. These PRELIMINARY data are at http://undpiper.airdat.com/display.html The default that is currently employed only shows the last one hours worth of data, so it is suggested that you click on the 'Load' button on the top and set the time 3 or more hours in the past and select the last three hours of data. You will see a lot more this way. Please remember that the bugs are being worked out of these initial installations, and that on occasion, a piece of erroneous data will be displayed. Despite the occasional bad data point, TAMDAR soundings have compared favorably with rawindosndes and model forecast data so far. A formal assessment of TAMDAR will begin when all 64 units have been deployed. The temporary web page that is now used to display TAMDAR will be replaced soon with one with greater functionality, including the ability to display soundings.
